Local Rail Ticket Office Closures
I am disappointed
at the Government’s decision to close hundreds of railway station ticket
offices across the country. This will lead to job losses and a diminished
service for travelling commuters across the network.
The changes
being proposed across the North West and our own Liverpool City region are
profound. Ultimately, this is a plan to de-staff our railway, making it less
safe and accessible. Across Merseyside, this will result in 75 jobs being put
at risk. I am monitoring the situation closely and will be objecting to the proposals.
For
Liverpool Wavertree residents, this will mean that three ticket offices (Edge
Hill, Wavertree Technology Park and Broad Green) in the constituency will be
subject to full closure with other nearby stations like Mossley Hill and West
Allerton also closing.
